The UK edition of Marketing Week ran a lengthy article on e-cigarettes and the way the brands are approaching marketing. The article points out that the MHRA (similar to the US’s FDA) would like to get its paws on ecigs and regulate ecigs like a drug, including marketing restrictions. Yet the article notes that e-cigarette companies are sort of forced to emphasize the alternatives to smoking to avoid any health claims.

eCig News Item – White Cloud Featured in Another Article
White Cloud Cigarettes recently appeared in a Forbes article as I mentioned in a previous news item. Either the company has been pushing for interviews to get some digital ink, or it’s been very lucky this week. The company was profiled in a piece in the Tampa Bay Business Journal this week. The piece focused mainly on the company’s rocky start as yet another mall kiosk brand fleecing unsuspecting consumers on their way past the Banana Republic. Or rather, they would have been had their new employees showed up for work that first day.

News Item: Riverside County (Calif.) Looks into Vaping Ban
The Riverside County government will be voting on a vaping ban within county buildings. The article in the Press Enterprise seems to hint a lot of the move is based on the usual outdated information about risks put out by the FDA. The article also noted a 2010 UC Riverside study that found leaky e-cigarette cartridges.
