A recent article in the Herald-Tribune profiled Totally Wicked’s operations in Florida. The piece also looked at who was using the products and other businesses that have entered the e-cigarette industry. Among the other businesses was a woman who owns a RYO tobacco shop that was deeply impacted by legislation and nearly went out of business.  That is until the store started selling e-cigarettes.

Marketing Week Looks at eCig Marketing

The UK edition of Marketing Week ran a lengthy article on e-cigarettes and the way the brands are approaching marketing. The article points out that the MHRA (similar to the US’s FDA) would like to get its paws on ecigs and regulate ecigs like a drug, including marketing restrictions. Yet the article notes that e-cigarette companies are sort of forced to emphasize the alternatives to smoking to avoid any health claims.

News Item – Financial Site Pegs eCig Industry at 2B

International financial site Finchannel published a report on the electronic cigarette industry. The report covered the market has rapidly grown from an obscure niche composing mostly online sales to a more mainstream industry that’s now worth an estimated 2 billion dollars. The article covers electronic cigarettes interesting position between tobacco and pharma as well as big tobacco’s migration to alternative solutions in the future.

eCig News Item – White Cloud Featured in Another Article

White Cloud Cigarettes recently appeared in a Forbes article as I mentioned in a previous news item. Either the company has been pushing for interviews to get some digital ink, or it’s been very lucky this week.  The company was profiled in a piece in the Tampa Bay Business Journal this week.  The piece focused mainly on the company’s rocky start as yet another mall kiosk brand fleecing unsuspecting consumers on their way past the Banana Republic.  Or rather, they would have been had their new employees showed up for work that first day.
