This week I bring you a review of another flavor from Big Bang E-Cigs by the name of AK-47. http://bombsauceeliquid.com/
First Impressions
This offering is from their line of premium E-Liquids called “Bomb Sauce” and was provided to me at no charge for the purpose of review (Thank You Caston!).
Prices for the organic line of E-Liquid is $7.99 for a well filled 15ml bottle, $13.98 for a 30ml bottle and $21.98 for a 50ml bottle and they offer 34 flavors to choose from.
While they are all 60/40 PG/VG based, you still get to choose 0, 8, 16 or 24 mg of nicotine. With the exception of their 4mg nic liquids which have a higher VG ratio.
And while I can’t make promises on their behalf, they did indeed deviate and make my samples with 18mg of nic.
My order was shipped promptly and arrived in a standard USPS box along with plentiful supply of packing peanuts. The liquid itself was inside of very well filled plastic bottles and labeled with the product name and nic level.
In addition to their web based business, they also have two brick and mortar locations:
8610 Roswell Rd Suite 540
Atlanta, GA 30350
800 North Main St Suite 110
Alpharetta, Ga 30009
Here is how they describe this particular flavor on their website:
A break in! We returned from our trip to the Things That Smell Similar To Cheese Conference only to find a large truck-shaped hole in our front wall and several things strewn about. Following procedure, our first act was to determine the thief’s method of entry. Careful investigation of security footage has revealed that entry was most likely achieved via driving a large truck through the front wall. Upon surveying the damage and taking stock of what was missing we discovered that our thief was actually the opposite of a thief. (Don’t ask us what the opposite of a thief is called. It was the subject of an early-morning meeting that escalated to insults and violence much more quickly than usual. “Guy who leaves stuff” is the best we can do). The footage also shows our mysterious intruder carrying a Russian-made rifle and heading straight to the top-secret Flavor Development And Karaoke Lab and searching through different compounds. He soon flipped what he no doubt thought was a light-switch and was greeted with the activation of the Karaoke system (the fact that the “Sounds of Law Enforcement” disc was still in the machine is quite a happy accident). Terrified, he dropped his weapon and made for the door. In his haste he knocked over the PEACH, BANANA, and STRAWBERRY samples, trampling them together on the floor. We will never know what he was trying to make, but the mess he left was a huge hit. We had no choice but to make more, and name it after the only thing we have to remember him by.
Once I skim through the storytelling, I am left with Peach, Banana and Strawberry, the information I was looking for..
Now for the actual test
The liquid contained in the bottle is very clear with just a very slight yellowish tint to it.
The scent coming from the bottle is a very light but distinct banana odor with just a tinge of strawberry at the edges.
My preferred mix is 60/40 PG/VG mix with 18 mg of nicotine, which I was sent. It turns out that the normal ratio for the organic “Bomb Sauce” is 60/40 to begin with. And if you require a custom mix just drop them a line since they did accommodate my request for 18 mg of nic.
So as usual, I load up a Kanger Protank V2 with a fresh 2.5 ohm head and attach it to my trusty Vamo and get to work.
And as usual, I start at around 3.4v and walk my way upwards this time all the way to 4.8 volts before settling in at 4.5v. which seems to be perfect for this liquid. At the 4.8 it seems to taste a little burnt.
The taste seems to mostly a very light banana flavor. And it does not overpower like banana flavoring can tend to do in a lot of liquids I have tried. At the same time, I do notice a just a bit of the strawberry flavor mostly in the form of a nice tart aspect that makes a nice addition to the light banana flavor. I am not really finding the peach flavor at this point
Two Weeks Later
This time I find the “sweet spot” to be right at 4.7v.
Throat hit is still very nice as is the vapor production. The strawberry flavor is more pronounced and has added slightly more assertive tart note to the exhale.
This time around, I am finally getting the peach flavor. Not a lot but enough to notice. The banana component is still the dominant flavor but together they achieve almost a creamy aspect.
Three Weeks Later
Not quite sure what happened, The throat hit seems to be slightly more aggressive (which I like) and the vapor product has remained the same, still quite good, The flavor especially where the banana and peaches are concerned seemed to have combined into something that is neither banana or peach. But it is lightly sweet and even more creamy with that bit of strawberry tartness still handing on at the edge of the tongue.
It has evolved into something new and complex. Well worth the extra week of steeping.
Now a little bit about Big Bang.
As you know I like to get to know the people behind the scenes.
This is a copy of my response from Caston Adams, C.O.O of Big Bang when I asked him for more info on the company and their values.
Okay here it goes… Basically we started making our liquid because of how many times we’ve ordered juices from other companies and been either disgusted with the juices themselves, or let down because the quality of the juice was sub-par, and I’ve spent a lot of money on other vendor’s liquids. We scoured resources for top-tier quality american ingredients, and for 9 months we began developing our Bomb Sauce. We are constantly improving our liquids at every aspect you could possibly think of, and we’re always open to criticism, as it is absolutely imperative to grow and remain teachable in order to be successful. All of our liquids are developed in a sterile environment with regulated positive airflow to reduce airborne particulates and other nasty things that would contaminate the liquid making process. More importantly we are enthusiastic about our jobs and try not to take ourselves too seriously, bottom line we have fun with our customers and our business partners because we can!
In addition to a very full line of E-Liquids, Big Bang offers a nice selection of vaping hardware as well. And for reasonable prices.
Summation
While this flavor was quite acceptable to start with, it is a perfect example of why some E-Liquids need for you to take the extra time and patience to give it a chance to come into its own.
So if you are willing to give this product the extra time in a cool dark place to mature, I don’t think you will be disappointed.
See you soon and vape like you mean it!
