Something a Little Different: VapeDudes eJolt Caffeine e-Liquid

Ever wonder what your e-cigarette would be like if you could get Caffeine out of it instead of nicotine? The team over at Vape Dudes hit me up recently and asked if I would like to try their new e-liquid.  I politely declined with my usual spiel about why I avoid doing e-liquid reviews myself.  Then they replied and told me this was different, this e-liquid had caffeine in it instead of nicotine.

The Vape Dudes call the e-liquid their eJolt line and it packs about 16mg of caffeine per 10 puffs.

VapeDudes eJoltThis piqued my interest.  I wondered what would happen if you swapped out stimulants in your e-liquid.  So I decided, why not, I’ll give my impressions of the stuff.

Let me first preface this review with this:  this really isn’t an e-liquid review.  My palette isn’t very sensitive and flavor is highly subjective, so I sit that part out (opting instead to hand the juice stuff over to guest authors).

The cool thing is that eJolt is available in their entire flavor catalog, so just pick something you like.  I went with my favorite e-liquid from the dudes, Blue Honey.

You can get eJolt in your favorite flavors at the Vape Dudes website.

Ok, What’s the Deal?

As I mentioned in the intro, eJolt comes by default with no nicotine.  The company recently added an option to add nicotine to the liquid for a small charge.

vape dudes ejolt blue honeyMight as well get this out of the way.  I am in no way any sort of medical-type person, so on a scale to no biggie to Norman Bates, I have no idea how crazy adding nicotine into the mix is (or vaping caffeine to begin with).  Do so at your own peril :)

Anyway, I got mine before the option to add nicotine in existed, so the juice I’m sampling is nic free.  There’s actually not a very high amount of caffeine in the e-liquid.  According to the site, you get about 15mg per 10 puffs.  That’s actually less than a decaf coffee, believe it or not.

Of course you don’t inhale your cuppa joe, no matter how fast you drink it.  Plus, you’re likely going to take way more than 10 puffs (I guess that’s about one cigarette’s worth).

The eJolt line is also a touch more expensive than the typical nicotine e-liquid from the Vape Dudes.  A 10ml bottle will cost about a buck and a half more than the regular stuff.

In all reality, unless you want to be shakier than one of those yappy dogs with a nervous condition, you’ll probably use the eJolt a lot less than traditional e-liquid.

Does it Work?

I intake a stupid amount of coffee on a daily basis.  So I’m pretty used to nicotine.  I attempted a little experiment one morning by replacing my coffee with vaping eJolt.

Caffeine warningThat didn’t really work out too well.  I apparently need e-Coffee, because I couldn’t go without at least that first cup in the morning.  After that I used the eJolt in combination with regular nicotine e-liquid (I’m not giving up coffee AND nicotine on the same morning!)

It seemed like I could cruise along alright using the e-liquid, but nothing stood out as particularly buzzy about this stuff.

Interestingly, I’m writing this review at night and using the eJolt as I write it.  I definitely feel like I’ve got a pretty good cafeine buzz going.  I’m going to guess that I’ll be having a hard time sleeping in a couple of hours.

Bottom line seems to be that it does actually provide the stimulant effect.  I also think that it’s a case of trial and error to find out what sort of vaping patterns would work for you if you’re interested in trying it.  I don’t think I would load up on the nicotine version and use it as an all day vape.

Too Long; Didn’t Read

Vape Dudes now has a line of e-liquid called eJolt.  The e-liquid replaces nicotine with caffeine (or you can have both).  You can get it in all their regular flavors and vape your morning cup of coffee. Pick some up at VapeDudes.com.

Also, tell me what you think.  Good idea or bad idea?

  • I have mixed liquid herbal tinctures with glycerin and used that in the ecig and that seemed to have some effect as if taking the tinctures in liquid form. For that I have an old regular style atomizer with one of the old polyfill cartridges to keep it separate from any regular ecig juice usage. I've also boiled down herbals making a strong slushy tea of sorts, added glycerin and then vaped it. I've heard tale of someone who for coffee flavour takes regular strong coffee and adds glycerin, vapes on that. I would imagine some caffeine is coming through when he does it.

    • Seems like that might be hard on the atomizer. I can barely DIY with pre-made flavorings, I can't imagine having to make tinctures :)

  • Im using ejolt right now with 16 mg nic. Just got it 2 days ago and seems to give a nice caffeine buzz. I am a huge herbal fan such as ashwagandha and St. Johns Wort. It would be great to get some happy feel good herbs in my e liquid. I am enjoying my ejolt coconut cream pie and will for sure be ordering more.

  • I got the Blue Honey with 16mg nic and love the stuff. I vape my way into work (with a mug of coffee too).

    • I need to get some with nic in it too so I don\’t have to keep swapping out. I\’m glad I\’m not the only one :)

  • Ill try almost anything onces, ALMOSTLOL.. Id try it, but i wouldn’t go too far into the realm of vitamins or other supliments.. not until more comes out about it atleast it being new and people tending to spoil a good thing by getting too complicated or experimenting with my safety.. that being said caffeine doesnt strike me as something alarming in a vape as so.e days i drink lots of coffee though only when and as needed.. may be worth a try, ill loom into tryin it soon! Thnx steve k!

    • My big hangup with adding stuff to vapor is that it could result in even more scrutiny from the FDA or something. It's hard enough with just nicotine in there :)

  • Sorry to be that guy but:

“I intake a stupid amount of coffee on a daily basis. So I’m pretty used to nicotine.” I think that should be ‘caffeine’ instead of ‘nicotine’.

“That didn’t really work out too well. I apparently need e-Coffee, because I couldn’t go without at least that first cup in the morning.” I think ‘e-coffee’ should be ‘real coffee’?

Knee jerk reaction is this seems like a bad idea, but on deeper thought it might be effective as a CRT (caffeine replacement therapy). Man, consider the possibilities using PVs to break all your addictions. Now if only they could find a way I could vape Skyrim.

  • You were right on the first one, but I meant e-coffee on that second part. e-Coffee to go with my e-cigarette. Ok, so all my jokes aren't winners :)

I know your CRT thing was a joke, but it got me thinking about vaping other potentially addicting things. I seem to recall that there was a brief period where inhaling atomized alcohol was a thing until the FDA or somebody shut it down. Anyone remember that?

  • I understand you didn't want to get into flavors as that was not the point of the review, but you didn't hit the one topic I was hoping for…throat hit. Typically 0mg juices produce none. Did the caffeine offer anything to replace the nic th?

    • No, not really. There was a little sensation there, so it felt like I was inhaling something, but it wasn't really what I'd call throat hit. It was kind of weird, there was nothing on the exhale at all, so it gave a sort of unfinished perception to the actual vaping experience if that makes any sense.
