After a less than brief absence, the Vaping Site o’ the Week is back! And I’ve got one of my favorites, even though it’s really not a vaping site at all. This one is run by Dr. Michael Siegel a tobacco researcher at Boston College. Many of you are familiar with this site already, if you’re not allow me to tell you what you’re missing.
While it isn’t much to look at visually, The Rest of the Story: Tobacco News Analysis and Commentary is the number one source for a genuine scientific look at much of the crap put out by prohibitionists. Dr. Siegel is a well-respected researcher and was once a big player in the tobacco control movement. I’m not exactly sure what went down, but to me, it seems like he became disillusioned by his grant money-grubbing buddies and started doing his own thing.
That thing along with all the academic stuff he does was also looking at the rumblings made by tobacco control. Dr. Siegel’s posts deconstruct the often rhetoric-laden noises made by prohibitionists to explain what has and does not have scientific merit. I’m sure you’ll be shocked to hear the stuff that does have merit is few and far between.
It’s sites like this one and a few others (which I’ll also be featuring) that I lean on to make sense of new studies that sound like they’re bad in the news, but turn out to be neutral or even good.
